Thai Table Massage

Thai Table Massage

If you are looking for a way to make your treatments more dynamic, more movement-focused and easier on your own body, Thai Table Massage could be exactly what you have been searching for.

Inspired by traditional Thai massage but thoughtfully adapted for use on a massage table, this two-day workshop introduces a range of stretches, mobilisations and movement-based techniques that can be seamlessly integrated into your existing practice. Rather than working on the floor, these techniques are designed to be practical, accessible and comfortable for both therapist and client while still delivering many of the benefits associated with traditional Thai massage.

One of the greatest advantages of learning Thai Table Massage is that it changes the way you work as a therapist. By using bodyweight, leverage and movement you can add a whole other dimension to your treatments, and can often achieve remarkable results with less physical effort. Many therapists find they finish the day feeling less fatigued while offering treatments that feel fresh, engaging and highly effective for their clients.

Developed by Ruth Bell from years of integrating Thai-inspired techniques into her remedial practice, this course focuses on practical application rather than tradition for tradition’s sake. You will leave with techniques you can immediately incorporate into your current treatments, while also developing the confidence to offer a flowing Thai Table Massage session as a standalone therapy.

If you enjoy movement, clinical reasoning and helping clients move with greater ease and confidence, this workshop will open up exciting new possibilities for your practice.

Why you should train with us

At the School of Bodywork, we are passionate about helping therapists work more effectively while also looking after themselves.

This course is not about reproducing traditional floor-based Thai massage. Instead, it has been carefully adapted for the treatment table, making the techniques more accessible while preserving many of the movement-based principles that make Thai massage so effective.

You will learn practical skills that can be introduced into your treatments immediately, helping your sessions stand out while reducing strain on your own body through intelligent use of bodyweight and positioning.

Course overview

This two-day practical workshop introduces therapists to Thai-inspired stretches, mobilisations and dynamic movement techniques adapted specifically for table-based treatment.

You will explore applications for a range of musculoskeletal presentations, including acute and chronic pain, while developing breath and movement-led treatment. By the end of the course, you will feel confident incorporating individual techniques into your existing sessions or providing a complete Thai Table Massage treatment.

Successful completion also provides the foundation for progressing to our Advanced Thai Table Workshop.

FAQs

Do I need previous Thai massage experience to join this course?

No. This workshop is designed for qualified massage therapists and no previous experience of Thai massage is required. The focus is on learning practical, table-based techniques that can be incorporated into your existing treatments rather than studying traditional floor-based Thai massage.

Do I need to be particularly flexible? I have seen Thai massage before and it looks difficult.

Not at all. Because the techniques have been adapted for use on a treatment table, they are much easier to perform than traditional floor-based Thai massage. There is a strong emphasis on body mechanics and working efficiently rather than forcing positions. You simply need to be comfortable moving freely around the treatment table, and many techniques can be adapted or omitted to suit your own abilities and style of practice.
