Advanced Thai Table Workshop

Advanced Thai Table Workshop

Expand Your Skills. Explore New Movement. Take Your Thai Table Practice Further.

Ready to take your Thai Table Massage skills to the next level?

Our Advanced Thai Table Workshop has been created for therapists who have already completed the first Thai Table course with Ruth Bell and want to continue developing this dynamic and adaptable way of working. Over two highly practical days, you will have the opportunity to refresh and refine techniques from your previous training before adding a new range of approaches to your toolkit, with a particular emphasis on working in side-lying.

Side-lying opens up exciting possibilities within Thai-inspired bodywork. It allows us to work with movement, stretches and mobilisations from a completely different perspective and can be particularly useful when adapting treatments to suit individual clients. As with the original Thai Table course, the emphasis isn’t on performing a rigid routine. Instead, you will continue developing a collection of techniques that can be integrated into your existing treatments or brought together into a flowing Thai Table session.

If you enjoyed the movement, creativity and whole-body approach of your original training, this workshop gives you the opportunity to come back, practise, reconnect and take those skills further.

Why you should train with us

At the School of Bodywork, we want advanced training to do more than simply give you more techniques.

Thai Table work encourages you to move with your client, using body weight, leverage and positioning rather than relying purely on muscular effort. This can create wonderfully dynamic treatments while also supporting greater ease and longevity for you as the therapist. Ruth’s approach is practical, adaptable and rooted in her experience of incorporating Thai Massage techniques into her own remedial treatments.

This advanced workshop gives you time to revisit what you already know, ask questions that have arisen since your first course and explore new ways of bringing movement into your treatments.

Course overview

The Advanced Thai Table Workshop builds directly upon your previous Thai Table training.

Across the two days you will:

  • Refresh and refine techniques from the first course.
  • Expand your existing Thai Table toolkit.
  • Explore a range of new side-lying techniques.
  • Develop further stretches and mobilisations.
  • Explore different ways of moving and positioning your client.
  • Continue refining your own body use.
  • Learn how to adapt techniques to different clients.
  • Develop greater flow and confidence within your treatments.

The emphasis throughout is on practical exploration and giving you techniques that can genuinely become part of your everyday practice.

Take Your Thai Table Skills Further

Your first Thai Table course introduced a different way of thinking about massage – one that brings movement, stretching, mobilisation and dynamic body use into your treatments.

Now it’s time to build upon it.

Refresh the techniques you already know, explore the possibilities of side-lying and add even more movement and creativity to your treatments.

If Thai Table has become a part of the way you love to work, the Advanced Thai Table Workshop is your next step.

Course syllabus

The two days will include:

  • Review and refinement of selected Level 1 Thai Table techniques.

There will be plenty of supervised hands-on practice throughout both days.

Entry requirements

Students must hold a:

  • Minimum Level 3 Massage qualification.
  • Minimum Level 3 Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology qualification.

You must also have previously completed the first Thai Table Massage course with Ruth Bell.

This is important as the Advanced workshop builds directly upon the techniques and principles introduced during your original training.

Course Format

This is a two-day, highly practical workshop.

You will have opportunities to revisit techniques from your previous training before progressing into new material, with a particular focus on side-lying work. You will both give and receive techniques throughout the weekend, allowing you to experience the work from the perspective of both therapist and client.

Assessments

There is no formal assessment.

Ruth will provide guidance and feedback throughout the practical sessions, helping you refine existing techniques and develop confidence with the new approaches.

Qualification & Accreditation

You will receive a Certificate of Attendance on completion of the Advanced Thai Table Workshop for your CPD records.

FAQs

Do I have to complete the first Thai Table course before attending?

Yes. This workshop builds directly upon the techniques and principles taught during Ruth’s first Thai Table course, so previous completion is essential.

I haven’t used all of my Thai Table techniques recently. Will I be able to keep up?

Absolutely. Part of the workshop will involve refreshing and refining techniques from your original training before progressing into the new material.

You don’t need to arrive remembering every technique perfectly!

Is this mainly a side-lying course?

Side-lying is an important focus and allows us to introduce lots of new possibilities, but it isn’t the only element of the weekend. You will also revisit previous work and continue developing your wider Thai Table skills, movement and treatment flow.

Do I need to be particularly flexible?

No. As with the original Thai Table training, you don’t need to be a gymnast! The techniques are adapted for the treatment table and there is a strong emphasis on effective therapist body use and finding approaches that work for you.

Tutor / Tutors

Ruth Bell

Ruth Bell is an experienced massage therapist, Thai Massage practitioner and tutor with a particular passion for movement and functional approaches to bodywork.

Her Thai Table training developed from her own experience of incorporating Thai Massage techniques into remedial treatments and recognising how effectively these approaches could be adapted from traditional floor-based Thai Massage to the treatment table.

Ruth’s teaching encourages therapists to move, experiment and think beyond conventional massage techniques, while always considering their own body mechanics and the individual needs of the client.

The Advanced workshop gives Ruth the opportunity to take these principles further, particularly through the possibilities offered by side-lying work.
