Working with Neurodivergent Clients Diploma

Working with Neurodivergent Clients Diploma

A Neuro-Affirming Approach for Therapists

Every client experiences the world differently.

For neurodivergent individuals, differences in sensory processing, communication, body awareness, executive functioning and nervous system regulation can significantly influence the experience of receiving massage or bodywork. Yet many therapists receive little or no formal training in how to recognise these differences or adapt their practice accordingly.

Our Working with Neurodivergent Clients Diploma course has been created to change that.

Designed specifically for massage and bodywork therapists, this comprehensive online programme explores how neurodivergence may influence every stage of the therapeutic relationship – from booking an appointment and completing consultation forms to communication, treatment planning, the treatment environment and hands-on care.

Rather than encouraging therapists to view neurodivergent people through a diagnostic lens, this course promotes a neuro-affirming, person-centred approach that recognises every individual as unique. You will gain practical knowledge and thoughtful strategies that help create treatments where clients feel safe, understood and respected.

The course also explores the growing body of evidence linking neurodivergence with differences in physical health, chronic pain, sensory processing, trauma and nervous system regulation, allowing you to develop a more complete understanding of the people who may already be walking through your clinic door.

Whether you are supporting clients with a formal diagnosis, those awaiting assessment or individuals who simply experience the world differently, this course will help you build greater confidence, compassion and clinical awareness.

Why you should train with us

At the School of Bodywork, we believe that truly person-centred care begins with understanding.

This diploma course has been carefully designed to help therapists move beyond assumptions and develop a practical understanding of how neurodivergence may influence communication, consent, treatment experiences and therapeutic outcomes.

Rather than offering rigid rules, the training encourages curiosity, flexibility and respectful adaptation, helping you create a practice that is genuinely inclusive while remaining firmly grounded within your professional scope.

As with all our courses, the emphasis is on combining current understanding with practical application that you can immediately integrate into your own clinic.

Course overview

This comprehensive online diploma programme consists of thirteen self-paced modules covering the practical, emotional, sensory and clinical considerations involved in working with neurodivergent clients.

Each module combines theory with practical examples and clinical application, allowing you to build confidence gradually while continually relating your learning back to real treatment situations.

Study at your own pace, revisit the material whenever you need to and develop a deeper understanding that will continue to benefit your practice long after completing the course.
