Here at the School of Bodywork we always take a holistic view when working with the body, so although these workshops are broken down into specific areas of the body, you will also find some reference to the wider body. We also take into account the Biopsychosocial Model of Care which is essential to our understanding of how to help clients in their healing. We look at posture, gait, quality of movement, homecare and so much more on these very comprehensive courses.
In order to truly benefit from these weekends you will need to join us on our Deep Tissue & Advanced Techniques weekend first which will give you all the theory and application of techniques such as Muscle Energy Techniques, Soft Tissue Release, Trigger Points, Positional Release Techniques and so on. If you feel you already have training in these advanced techniques then please contact us to discuss as you may not need to attend this workshop. Scroll down for each of the workshop details.
These workshops also make up our Advanced Remedial Massage Diploma which you can sign up for straight away or convert on to as you complete the weekends should you wish. You will receive access to our online theory modules within 2 weeks of the start of each course so that you are equipped with all the information you need to utilise the time spent hands-on in the classroom where you can refine your techniques and focus more on the practical. You will be able to go away after each of the workshops with a whole host of tools to help your clients. All the workshops are BCMA Approved and you will receive a certificate on completion.

Students must hold a recognised minimum of a Level 3 Massage Diploma and Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology.
You MUST attend a Deep Tissue and Advanced Massage Techniques weekend workshop prior to any of the other workshops or before starting the Level 4 Advanced Remedial Massage Diploma (ARMD). This will introduce you to the techniques that we build upon throughout the Diploma course.
If you have already attended the previous School of Bodywork Advanced Techniques workshop, or our Level 3 Remedial Diploma or similar training elsewhere, then you may not need to attend this workshop first. Please contact us to check.

Deep Tissue and Advanced Massage Techniques
MUST be attended before other weekends to give you a solid foundation in Advanced Techniques such as STRs, METs, PRTs etc. If you feel you already have a good understanding of these then please get in touch so that we can discuss whether you need to attend. This workshop will give you some general Deep Tissue and Advanced Techniques to take away and utilise in your practice straight away, and will revolutionise the way you work! |

| Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th October 2024 | Understanding & Treating Back Pain
We will look at detailed anatomy relating to the lower back as well as understanding and treating common presenting conditions such as Sciatica, Disc issues, Facet Joint Syndrome that you are likely to see in clinic, considering pain science and the Biopsychosocial Model of Care. We will also look at standing and moving postural assessment. |

| Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th January 2025 | Understanding & Treating the Shoulder
This weekend will include detailed anatomy for the Shoulder, looking at common presenting conditions like Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Shoulder Impingement and Rotator Cuff tears. As always, we will consider pain science and the Biopsychosocial Model of care, movement and assessment. Shoulders are a complex area - let us help you get to grips with them! |

| Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd February 2025 | Understanding & Treating the Neck & Upper Thoracics
We will look at detailed anatomy and common presenting conditions such as Forward Head Posture, Osteoarthritis, Disc Conditions, Headaches/Migraines and Whiplash and how/when to treat them. We also carefully consider breathing function and the effect on the muscles. As with each weekend we will consider factors other than the physical and look at movement to bring a holistic approach to treatment. |

| Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th March 2025 | Understanding & Treating the Limbs & Joints
We will look at detailed anatomy and common presenting conditions such as Runners Knee, Achilles Tendinopathy, Lateral & Medial Epicondylitis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Plantar Fasciopathy and how/when to treat them. We will also be covering topics such as Gait Analysis, joint mobilisations and pain patterns. |

| Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th May 2025 | The Principles of Rehabilitation , Tissue Healing & Repair
Looking at tissue repair and the rehabilitation process including assessment, treatment, exercises, and rehab planning. We will consider conditions from previous weekends looking more specifically at the injury and recovery protocol as well as a more detailed look at consultation taking, how many treatments, etc. There will be lots of practical and playful exercises included to share with your clients! |

Here at the School of Bodywork we are all about Therapist longevity and so whilst we teach you how and when to use techniques, we also think about your body mechanics and practitioner presence. Being an excellent therapist is so much more than simply applying techniques and we encourage our students to develop their own unique style throughout our trainings, but with a strong foundation in the clinical skills and understanding of when and why you would use them.
